One example is pictured here - the P-51B Mustang flown by Ralph "Kid" Hofer.

I'd like to see anyone who has made models of air or spacecraft, any scale, real or virtual, post them here on this blog. This is my invitation to display your work to the rest of the world.

That picture blows me away Jeff.
What program did you use? and did you use a real scale model or just a blueprint or other specs. I really dig the lighting effects (shadow) [unofficially, I've been called the "shadow man" for my work in photoshop.

Thanks E.T.
The whole story of my computer art and modelling is explained on my website HERE.
For reference on the actual aircraft and to create the models, I:
1. scanned accurate scale drawings
2. used more software that I wrote to measure the images
3. used raster-to-vector software to get the basic outlines into Autocad
4. cleaned up and corrected the drawings in Autocad
5. used another program I wrote to convert the CAD drawing to 3D model components
6. used the 3D model components in a ray tracing program called POVRay
7. Rendered the photorealistic images with POVRay
After doing this as a hobby for a while, and being a computer analyst for my "real" job, I decided to take up 1:6th scale figure modelling to get a break from computers.
wow, that sounds complex!
.....have you ever investigated making those awesome 3-d models fly in a flight sim like MSFS, Fly! FU3 (dang, it's been a while..not sure which ones are still around.
cool avatar, though I miss the handle skypilot777 (it can be edited;)
